Protection of Computing Resources

Computers. One of the most created and used technologies of today. 95% of people in the U.S.A have some form of computer that can connect to the internet. This is good, however there are many risks. The Most Notable, Privacy, Unauthorized Access by other people, and many misuse of the computer resources.

Privacy Risk Within Data Collection

There are many things that happen when you enter a website. Most websites of today have the use of tracking technologies, that gather your information to use it for advertising or giving suggestions on what you want. However, this can be dangerous if used wrong. The use of it in workplaces, especially in employee work places can prove major risks. Employee information such as contact details, financial information or even social security numbers can be shared unknowingly. Although this information is "stored safely", it can bring concerns of data breaches that reveal this sensitive data and raises many concerns especially if it conflicts with California's Privacy Rights Act.


Unauthorized Accesses and Misuse

There are some things that were meant to never happen. For example, an employee at a company getting administrative access to company fundings or information kept private for only higher ups. This is most commonly known as "hacking" where someone intentionally exploits security breaches or weaknesses Within a system. One of the common methods they use to breach is viruses. Usually inside a file or download, hidden away it will slowly gather your information on your computer through various methods attacking private information such as passwords. You need to have a secure system to prevent these attacks such as virus scanners or only download from 100% trusted sources.

Although there are many risks to the internet, computer, and security, there are many benefits. For example, the internet is what we used to get information, just like how you are reading from this page! Or, people use the internet to communicate to eachother, use it to work, and etc. Computers are the future. To use it well, we must fight the risks and use the goods for the better.
